Mission Statement

New Hanover Township Fire Companies Joint Mission Statement

To prepare, respond, and operate in a safe manner at all reported emergencies, and other requests for service, in New Hanover Township, and surrounding communities. The New Hanover Fire Company No. 1 & Sassamansville Fire Company No. 1 will work as a team to help our citizens deal with natural and man-made emergencies. We will treat everyone with dignity and respect. We will work to the best of our abilities, with the resources available, to limit the loss to life, and property, and damage to the environment.

Attention Drivers: When you see a vehicle approaching you with blue lights flashing, please yield the right of way to them. That car or truck contains a volunteer Firefighter, Fire Police Officer, or Emergency Medical Services Provider, en-route to a job that pays nothing except the satisfaction of serving our communities by helping to preserve life and limit the loss of property.
