March 2010 03/07/10 7:22AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at the Bella Vista Golf Course at 2901Fagleysville Road between Wagner Road & Saint Victoria Drive in New Hanover Township. The Alarm Company stated that this activation wasn't clear as to which building was signaling the alarm. Chief 37 arrived on location at 7:26AM and began investigating. It was determined to be a false activation and Chief 37 recalled all units at 7:44AM. 03/04/10 7:36AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at 2137 Reindeer Court off of Romig Road in New Hanover Township. Assistant Chief 37 arrived on location at 7:39AM and reported nothing showing. Chief 37 had confirmed with the homeowner that this was a false activation and recalled all units at 7:47AM. 03/02/10 2:39AM Stations 37, 67 with Engine 67 and Tanker 67, 68, 87 with Tanker 87 were dispatched for a non-commercial Structure Fire at the intersection of Layfield Road & Colflesh Road in New Hanover Township. Lieutenant 37 arrived on location and reported a working fire at the rear of the building at 2:46AM. Chief 37 arrived on location at 2:49AM and corrected the address to 350 Layfield Road, also at this time Sassamansville Command was established. At 2:57AM Chief 68 took over Sassamansville Command. Command requested that Squad 65 be dispatched to relocate to station 68 to cover New Hanover Township. 3:19AM station 65 Fire Police were dispatched to assist with Traffic Control for the detour around the scene. All units were tied up on scene until 5:40AM. February 2010 02/27/10 9:19AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries at the intersection of Swamp Pike & New Hanover Square Road. Initial reports indicated the there were two vehicles involved and obstructing the roadway. EMS had two patients for transport. All units were made available at 9:56AM by Chief 37. 02/25/10 6:55PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Fire Alarm Activation at the New Hanover Methodist Church at 2211 Swamp Pike between Romig Road & Reifsnyder Road in New Hanover Township. Captain 37-1 notified Montgomery County Communications Center that the activation was the same detector from the previous days accidental trip on the 1st floor lobby in the Chapel. Chief 37 ordered all units recalled with the exception of Engine 37 at 7:03PM. 02/24/10 6:45PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Fire Alarm Activation at the New Hanover Methodist Church at 2211 Swamp Pike between Romig Road & Reifsnyder Road in New Hanover Township. Alarm Company notified Montgomery County Communications Center that this was a smoke detector activation on the 1st floor lobby in the Chapel. Additional information received reported that a smoke machine from the band at a dance being held on location caused the activation. Assistant Chief 37 arrived on scene at 6:49PM and confirmed that this was an accidental trip and recalled all units with the exception of 37 Officers. Chief 37 recalled remaining 37 Officers at 6:52PM. 02/22/10 4:13PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Fire Alarm Activation at 2013 Canyon Creek Road between Brook Run Terrace & Anneto Drive in New Hanover Township. Initial reports showed that this was a keypad activated alarm. Police Department arrived 4:19PM and reported nothing showing and that the building was not evacuated. Chief 37 arrived and found this to be an accidental trip and recalled all units at 4:21PM. 02/20/10 4:30PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Fire Alarm Activation at 565 Hildebrandt Road between Little Road & Finn Road in New Hanover Township. Initial reports indicated that this alarm was the result of smoke produced while cooking. Chief 68 arrived on scene and verified that this was an accidental alarm triggered by cooking, and recalled all units at 4:43PM. 02/20/10 12:56PM Station 68 was dispatched for a Special Service to assist EMS with snow removal to allow EMS to take a patient out of a house for transport. at 1803 Hoffmansville Road between Little Road & Kulps Road in New Hanover Township. All units were made available by Assistant Chief 68 at 1:10PM. 02/19/10 1:10PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries at 2409 North Charlotte Street between Lomara Drive & Anthony Drive in New Hanover Township. Assistant Chief 37 order a reduce and hold on all units at 1:27PM. All units were made available at 1:39PM by recall from Assistant Chief 37. 02/14/10 5:06PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a non-commercial Building Fire at 111 Fawn Drive off of Middle Creek Road in New Hanover Township. Upon arrival Asistant Chief 37 found a smoke condition in the home, and ordered all units to reduce speed with the exception of Engine 37. Fire Department personnel had to ventilate the home to clear it of smoke. All units were released by Deputy Chief 37 by general recall at 5:32PM 02/13/10 8:07AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries at the intersection of New Hanover Square Road & Swamp Pike in New Hanover Township. Initial reports indicated that this was a two vehicle head on collision of two Sport Utility Vehicles, and that the roadway was obstructed. Berks County Communications notified Montgomery County Communications that one of their Lieutenants was on scene and was reporting that this would be a Rescue. At 8:22AM EMS determined that this was indeed a Rescue, get a 2nd ambulance on the way, and place a MedEvac on stand-by. Jeff Stat 2 was dispatched in place of MidAtlantic 3 which was on another call. A landing zone was established by Engine 68 & Special Service 68 at Bella Vista Golf Course. All units were made available at 8:56AM 02/12/10 11:42 Station 68 was dispatched for a Special Service at 2385 Hill Road between Eichele Road & Swinging Bridge Road in New Hanover Township. The homeowner had requested assistance raising a downed horse. After the vet arrived it was determined that the animal had to be put down due to its injuries. 02/08/10 7:42AM Stations 37, 58 with Engine 58 and 68 were dispatched for non-commercial Building Fire. Caller reported unusual humming sounds from the circuit panel. Captain 37 arrived on location and reported nothing showing at 7:53AM. A Reduce and Hold order was given to all responding units, followed shortly by a Recall. All units were made available at 7:56AM January 2010 01/31/10 5:34PM Stations 37, 67 with Tanker 67 and 68 were dispatched for a non-commercial Building Fire at 2093 Swamp Pike between Leidy Road & Romig Road in New Hanover Township. Caller reported sparks coming out of the chimney. Deputy Chief 37 arrived on location at 5:38PM and reported that "Nothing was showing". Deputy Chief 37 then order all responding units with the exception of Engine 37 & Ladder 37 to stage in the Parking Lot of Faulker Swamp Church. Deputy Chief 37 recalled all 67 units at 5:41PM. All units were made available by 6:24PM. 01/31/10 2:49PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Fire at Swamp Pike & New Hanover Square Road in New Hanover Township. Chief 37 arrived on location to discover a Sport Utility Vehicle fully involved with fire. Chief 37 then ordered all units to Reduce Speed. All units were available at 3:37PM. 01/30/10 4:21PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Unknown Type Fire at 2504 Rhoads Road between Courtside Avenue & Buchert Road in New Hanover Township. The caller reported seeing flames coming from an abandoned house. Chief 37 arrived on location at 4:27PM and ordered all units to respond at Reduce Speed, then at 4:29PM a Recall was ordered, Chief 37 reported that the incident appeared to be a small controlled burn. 01/29/10 9:48PM Station 68 was dispatched for a Cascade Assist with Special Service 68 to assist Station 54 on a working non-commercial Structure Fire at 161 Bayberry Drive between Sycamore Drive & Hickory Grove Drive in Limerick Township. Stations with units already on scene or responding to this inferno included 37, 41, 54, 51, 58, 66, 68, 77, 84, 85, 86, Chester County stations 62, 64. Special Service 68 set-up for cascade operations and was on stand-by, until being released at 11:05PM by 54 Command. 01/28/10 6:32AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries at 2095 Big Road between Short Road & North Charlotte Street in New Hanover Township. Caller reported the vehicles involved were obstructing the roadway. Station 67 Fire Police were dispatched at 6:40AM to assist with Traffic Control at the request of FP-68-1. All units were made available by recall at 7:33AM by Deputy Chief 37 once the roadway was cleared of involved vehicles. 01/25/10 9:33AM Stations 37 and 68 Fire Police were dispatched to assist the New Hanover Township Police Department with Traffic Control around a downed tree in front of 834 Layfield Road between Hill Road & Deep Creek Road in New Hanover Township. All units were recalled within 10 minutes, a Verizon work crew volunteered to cut the tree down, so Med Ed didn't have to rush. 01/22/10 12:08PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an unknown type fire at Nestor's Auto Body at 3026 North Charlotte Street between Swamp Picnic Road & Dotterer Road in New Hanover Township. Deputy Chief 37 recalled all units at 12:12PM as there was nothing unusual at this address. 01/20/10 6:55AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries at the intersection of North Charlotte Street & Buchert Road in New Hanover Township. Initial reports indicated the collision was between two pickup trucks and that they were blocking the roadway. All 37 and 68 units were recalled by Assistant Chief 37 at 7:39AM. 01/20/10 1:40AM Stations 37, 41 with SS41-1...SS41-5...SS41-6, 42 with Tanker 42, 52, 66 with Tanker 66, 67 with Tanker 67, 68 with Engine 68...Special Service 68...Tanker 68, 73 with Engine 73, 78 with Tanker 78, and 87 were dispatched for a non-commercial Structure Fire at 541 Krause Road between Swamp Creek Road & Big Road in Upper Frederick Township. The caller reported seeing flames 25 to 30 feet into the air, and hearing a sound that sounded like ammunition exploding. 1:48AM Deputy Chief 87 reported that the house was fully involved and to add the next 4 Tankers to this assignment, Incident Command was established at this time as well. Engine 68 & Engine 73 were ordered to the Perkiomen Valley Middle School to establish a Tanker Fill Site to aide in Tanker Shuttle Operations. At 2:28AM all stations involved were redispatched for their Fire Police to assist with Scene Operations. At 2:32AM Chief 68 requested that Station 65 be dispatched with an Engine to relocate and Stand-By to cover Station 68 for the duration of this incident. At 5:15AM all 68 units were released from this incident and made available by Chief 68. 01/17/10 2:43PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at 2222 Broomstick Road between Ward Road & Ward Road in New Hanover Township. Caller reported smoke in the house. Chief 68 arrived and ordered all responding units to stage on the roadway. All units were promptly recalled at 3:02PM. 01/12/10 9:54AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Fire Alarm pull station activation at the Wawa at 1906 Swamp Pike between Dotterer Road & North Charlotte Street in New Hanover Township. All units were recalled by Chief 37 at 10:05AM after confirming no problem at scene. 01/07/10 8:07AM Stations 37, 67 with Tanker and Rescue 67, and 68 were dispatched for a Commercial Building Fire at the New Hanover Township Police Station at 2943 North Charlotte Street between Swamp Pike & Swamp Picnic Road in New Hanover Township. Chief 37 arrived on location and reported nothing showing, and to hold the response to what was already on the road at 8:22AM. Upon investigation there was a smoke condition inside the building for unknown reasons. It was later determined that a transformer had exploded 45 minutes prior causing an interruption of service to commercial buildings in the area. This smoke condition was the result of a malfunction HVAC system. All units were made available at 8:49AM via recall by Chief 37. 01/04/10 11:44AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched to assist EMS with a Med-Evac helicopter landing in the vicinity of Panda Bear Pediatrics at 1885 Swamp Pike Suite 108 between Dotterer Road & North Charlotte Street in New Hanover Township. Chief 37 requested that the Landing Zone be setup at the old New Hanover Airport in the open lot. 01/02/10 7:44PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Electrical Fire Outside of 3316 New Hanover Square Road between New Road & Big Road in New Hanover Township. Caller reported wires arcing in front of the residence. Chief 37 arrived on location and ordered a reduce and hold on all units, and then recalled all units as MEDED was already on scene and correcting the problem.. 01/02/10 4:57PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Carbon-Monoxide Detector activation at 2529 Saint Victoria Drive between Santa Maria Drive & Samantha Way in New Hanover Township. Initial reports indicated that a Carbon-Monoxide Detector had been going off in the upstairs of the residence. Chief 37 ordered that this assignment be held to the responding units already on the road at 5:07PM. All units were made available via recall at 5:18PM after it was determined that the detector was faulty. 01/01/10 2:34AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries in the vicinity of Big Road & Middle Creek Road in New Hanover Township. Caller reported that a Jeep Liberty had spun out, and off the roadway. Chief 37 ordered all 37 and 68 units that were still in station, to remain in station at 2:48AM. EMS transported one patient to the hospital, and another patient was examined on scene. All 37 and 68 units were made available by Chief 37 at 3:28AM.
December 2009 12/25/09 10:03PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries at the intersection of North Charlotte Street & Big Road in New Hanover Township. Reports indicated one vehicle versus the guardrail. Upon arrival at 8:11PM Chief 37 ordered a Reduce & Hold on all remaining units. Chief 37 also requested PENNDOT be notified that the guardrail involved was completely destroyed and that PENNDOT needs to examine, and remedy the damage as soon as possible due to exposure to a hazard. All 37 and 68 units were recalled and made available at 10:41PM. 12/22/09 7:43PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries at Sanatoga Road & Swamp Pike in New Hanover Township. Swamp Pike was reported obstructed by this accident. A MedEvac was ordered for one patient, and a Landing Zone was established by Special Service 68 with Captain 68 at the Bella Vista Golf Course. Mid-Atlantic 3 responded, and transported one patient. Gilbertsville ambulance transported one patient. All 68 units with the exception of Fire Police were made available at 8:43PM. Fire Police were made available at 9:13PM. 12/22/09 8:49AM Stations 37, 67, and 68 were dispatched for a Building Fire non-commercial at 231 Hoffman Road between Pheasant Circle & Congo-Niantic Road in Douglass Township. Chief 37 was on scene at 8:55AM and reported a working fire. Lieutenant 67 requested Berks County Engine 15, Tanker 20, and Tanker 22 to be dispatched to assist. Chief 37 reported the fire under control at 9:14AM. Station 68 was made available at 9:39AM. 12/21/09 9:45PM Stations 37, 67 with Engine 67 & Squad 67, and 68 were dispatched for a Commercial Building Fire Alarm Activation at Professional Dry Cleaning at 1885 Swamp Pike Suite 103 between Dotterer Road & North Charlotte Street in New Hanover Township. Reports indicated that the complainant could see water coming into the business, but didn't smell any smoke. Police Department reported at 9:52PM that the problem was originating at the Philly Pretzel Factory, and that there was some form of fire there earlier. Deputy Chief 37 reported light smoke showing from duct work, and to dispatch another aerial unit to cover Ladder 37. Berks County Ladder 15, was then requested to respond, and Berks County stated that Ladder 15 was Out Of Service - Mechanical. At 10:02PM Tower 59 was dispatched to assist the operation. At 10:08PM Deputy Chief 37 ordered a Reduce & Hold on all remaining units. Station 68 was made available at 10:17PM 12/19/09 9:00PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Special Service EMS assist at 322 Erb Road between Hoffmansville Road & Little Road in New Hanover Township. All units were available at 9:34PM. 12/18/09 6:05AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Carbon Monoxide Detector activation at 2315 Holly Drive between Rosenberry Road & Willow Lane in New Hanover Township. Upon arrival of Chief 37 and Engine 37 an investigation determined that the detector in question was malfunctioning as Fire Department detectors did not register any harmful gases present in the home. All 37 and 68 units were made available by Chief 37 at 6:23AM. 12/17/09 2:09PM Station 68 was dispatched to Stand-By in station and man Tanker 68 and Special Service 68 to cover for Berks County Station 15 calls due to Berks 15 involved at a structure fire in Colebrookdale Township. 12/14/09 2:04PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Fire at the New Hanover Township Building at 2943 North Charlotte Street between Swamp Pike & Swamp Picnic Road in New Hanover Township. Captain 37-1 on location reporting an engine compartment fire at 2:07PM. The fire was placed under control at 2:14PM by Captain 37-1, and all units were ordered to reduce speed. 2:20PM Station 68 was recalled by Captain 37-1. 12/14/09 12:06AM Stations 37 and 68 Fire Police were dispatched to assist the New Hanover Township Police Department with Traffic Control following a vehicle accident at the intersection of North Charlotte Street & Big Road. Police Department then upgraded this incident to a full Fire Company stand-by due to one vehicle on its side in a ravine at 12:09AM. Chief 37 ordered the response be held to Rescue 37 and 37 & 68 Fire Police at 12:24AM. 12/11/09 6:22PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Pedestrian Struck at a Vehicle Accident at the Wawa at 1906 Swamp Pike between Dotterer Road & North Charlotte Street in New Hanover Township. Dispatch notes indicated a female patient pinned between two vehicles. Assistant Chief 37 ordered all units to reduce speed at 6:28PM. Chief 37 recalled all 68 units at 6:31PM November 2009 11/21/09 10:01PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Vehicle Accident With Injuries at 2612 Hill Road between Swinging Bridge Road & Green Lane Road in New Hanover Township. This accident actually started in Upper Frederick Township, and came to rest in New Hanover Township. Upon arrival the vehicle in distress was a hybrid Prius. Captain 68 ordered all responding units to Reduce speed at 10:20PM. At 10:34PM all 37 units were available with the exception of Fire Police. All units were made available by Captain 68 at 11:09PM. 11/21/09 6:07PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at the Bella Vista Golf Course Clubhouse at 2901 Fagleysville Road between Wagner Road & Saint Victoria Drive in New Hanover Township. Chief 37 recalled all units at 6:14PM, reporting that the alarm was activated by a smoke bomb set off inside the building. 11/20/09 8:08PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for Gas/Odor Leak Inside Commercial Building at the Wawa at 1906 Swamp Pike between Dotterer Road & North Charlotte Street in New Hanover Township. Initial reports indicated a very strong odor of sulfur inside, and EMS was notified that 2 employees were overcome by fumes. Deputy Chief 37 reported that this was an apparent problem with the air-handling system, and that the roof would be investigated. 8:52PM Deputy Chief 37 reported that the entire facility has been checked, nothing flammable found, Odor problem is related to Heating Ventilating & Air Conditioning system and the building was released back to the store manager. All 37 and 68 units were made available. 11/19/09 8:28PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Rescue at 2173 Hoffmansville Road between Layfield Road & Church Road in New Hanover Township. Police Department on scene at 8:29PM confirming entrapment. Chief 68 reported 1 vehicle on it's driver's side at 8:35PM. Operations were switched to Fireground 1 at 8:39PM. Chief 68 reported Rescue completed at 8:47PM. All units were made available and Fire Police were ordered to open the roadway at 9:50PM. 11/16/09 4:24PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched to assist EMS with establishing a Landing Zone at the Township Park on Schultz Road for the direct fly of a patient via MedEvac, and stand-by. The EMS call was at 100 Facet Drive off of Schubelish Road in New Hanover Township. 11/16/09 11:16AM Station 68 was dispatched for Special Service 68 for a Cascade Assist to Station 79 at a Non-Commercial Building Fire at 892 Willow Street between Diamond Street & Prospect Street in Upper Pottsgrove Township. Special Service 68 responded and staged on scene, no bottles needed to be filled. 11/14/09 9:27AM Stations 37 with Fire Police and 68 with Engine 68 and Fire Police were dispatched to respond at reduced speed for a Special Service to assist the New Hanover Township Police Department with an investigation at 2621 Deep Creek Road between Henning Road & Fisher Road in New Hanover Township. 10:17AM Chief 68 requested the services of Station 41 for 60-70 personnel. 11:31AM Chief 68 requested Station 87 be dispatched with their Tanker and Fire Police at reduced speed to assist the operations at 2621 Deep Creek Road in New Hanover Township. 11/13/09 3:17PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Special Service to assist the New Hanover Township Police Department with an ongoing extended incident at 2621 Deep Creek Road between Henning Road & Fisher Road in New Hanover Township. 3:28PM Chief 37 requested additional Fire Police from 65 and 87 to assist in the Road Closures. New Hanover Command was established at 3:29PM. At 3:46PM Chief 68 requested Squad 65 be relocated to Station 68 to cover our calls. 3:57PM Traffic 65 arrived at Deep Creek Road & Fisher Road to relieve the Marlborough Township Police Officer at this Traffic Control Point. 4:18PM New Hanover Command requested Station 41 be dispatched for approximately 45 personnel for an extended operation of 8-10 hours. 4:29PM Chief 68 had Tankers 42,72, 78 and 87 dispatched to respond to the Deep Creek Road staging area at reduced speed. At 5:04PM New Hanover Command had Station 71 dispatched for their Decontamination unit. 5:10PM Utility 51 was dispatched at reduced speed to assist with lighting. 5:17PM Traffic 65 reported Channel 6 News Media had arrived at their Traffic Control Point. 5:36PM New Hanover Command relayed to County to a request to advise Chief 52 that they would be covering all of Station 87 calls, No relocations needed. 5:55PM New Hanover Command was notified that a Temporary Flight Restriction was in place around the incident by the Federal Aviation Administration. 6:13PM Chief 65 requested Bucks County Rescue 56 to be relocated to Station 65 to cover all of Station 65 calls. 6:14PM Chief 71 requested that a stand-by Engine be relocated to Station 71 to cover all of Station 71 calls. 6:21PM Chief 65 requested that Bucks Rescue 56 was to cover all of Station 71 rescue calls as well. 6:28PM All Fire Police operating Deep Creek Road were advised to start inquiring about the possibility of dispatching additional Fire Police to begin relieving themselves for breaks if needed. 7:51PM Engine 73 arrived at Station 71 to cover 71 calls. Also at this time the Decontamination Team was ready and in place, and Fire Suppression was in place standing by for the Bomb Squad to do their job safely. 8:02PM New Hanover Command ordered all non-essential radio traffic to be ceased. The Bomb Squad performed their job quite like clockwork with controlled detonations occurring at regular intervals approximately at the following times- 8:30PM, 8:50PM, 9:41PM, 10:02PM, 10:45PM, and 11:25PM respectfully. At 11:33PM All Tankers on scene were released and companies were starting to be released from this incident. The Federal Aviation Administration lifted the Temporary Flight Restrictions at 11:41PM. 12:03AM(11/14/09) Fire Police were informed that the could start wrapping up their equipment and prepare to leave. 12:57AM All Fire & Police units were made available with the exception of the Police on scene securing the crime scene. Channel 6 ABC News 11PM 11/13/09 Channel 69 WFMZ News 11PM 11/13/09 Channel 69 WFMZ News 5PM 11/14/09 Pottstown Mercury 11/14/09 11/13/09 1:14PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched to assist EMS in establishing a Landing Zone for a MedEvac in the vicinity of 2621 Deep Creek Road between Henning Road & Fisher Road in New Hanover Township. EMS had a patient with a reported gunshot wound to the hand. EMS had the helicopter stand-down at 1:18PM, the patient was transported by ground to Lehigh Valley Hospital. All 37 and 68 units were available at 1:19PM. 11/12/09 9:14AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched to aide EMS with a Lift Assist at 766 Hildebrandt Road between Finn Road & Deep Creek Road in New Hanover Township. Chief 37 ordered that Rescue 37 respond in place of Engine 37 as their first due apparatus at 9:19AM. All units were ordered to stage on Hildebrandt Road at 9:25AM. Chief 37 then ordered a Reduce and Hold on all remaining units at 9:27AM. Police reported a vehicle flipped over onto its roof and obstructing the roadway, One female patient on scene refusing EMS treatment. At 9:56PM EMS placed a helicopter on stand-by. Engine 68 to setup a Landing Zone at New Hanover Upper Frederick Elementary if needed. EMS ordered the helicopter to stand-down at 10:01PM. EMS left the scene transporting the patient to the hospital at 10:15PM. All units were made available at 10:43PM. 11/08/09 3:01PM Station 68 Officers were dispatched for a Fire Investigation of trees down on wires in the vicinity of the intersection of Layfield Road & Hill Road in New Hanover Township. The correct address was 771 Layfield Road between Hill Road & Deep Creek Road in New Hanover Township. It was determined that the tree was hanging on ComCast wires, and that it was their responsibility to correct the situation. All units were available at 3:36PM. 11/04/09 8:46AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Fire at 800 Layfield Road between Deep Creek Road & Hill Road in New Hanover Township. Chief 68 reduced speed for all units at 8:56AM. EMS transported two patients to the hospital. Station 37 was available, except for Fire Police at 9:07AM. All units were available at 9:39AM. 11/03/09 2:07PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Accident with Injuries at 2411 North Charlotte Street between Lomara Drive & Anthony Drive in New Hanover Township. Chief 37 recalled all units with the exception of Rescue 37 at 2:19PM. 11/03/09 5:02AM Stations 37, 52 with Tanker and Ladder, 68 with Tanker and 87 were dispatched for a Barn Fire at 121 Colonial Road between Fagleysville Road & Hildebeidel Road in Upper Frederick Township. Dispatch notes included that the caller stated that the barn had no livestock in it, and that it was used as a garage. Contents included a tractor, truck, and a car. The caller also reported that the barn was fully engulfed, and that there was a large propane tank outside of the barn. Deputy Chief 87 ordered 4 more Tankers be assigned to this incident at 5:10AM. Tankers 58, 59, 66 and 67 were dispatched at this time. All units were ordered to utilize Fagleysville Road to Colonial Road due to a bridge out. 5:15AM FP-87-3 requested 42 Fire Police to assist. Deputy Chief 87 setup 87 Command at 5:16AM. Station 54 was dispatched with Engine 54 to setup a Tanker fill site on Fagleysville Road. 5:22AM FP-87-3 requested 52 and 54 Fire Police to assist. 5:24AM Chief 37 requested a New Hanover Township Police Car respond to Fagleysville Rood & Wagner Road to secure the scene. 5:29AM Tanker 42 was dispatched to assist. 5:38AM FP-87-3 requested 67 Fire Police to assist. 5:48AM Chief 68 requested Squad 65 be relocated to Station 68 to cover New Hanover Township for the duration of this incident. Chief 87 declared the fire under control at 6:04AM. Squad 65 arrived at Station 68 at 6:27AM. Dispatch Center started receiving calls on smoke causing traffic problems and close calls around the scene. Station 68 was released from this scene at 7:30AM. 11/01/09 7:44AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident involving a School Bus on Layfield Road between Hill Road and the Upper Hanover Township Line in New Hanover Township. Police Department reported that the vehicle had pulled into the Strawberry Fest House parking lot, and that Fire Department services were not needed. The 65 Officer In Charge was notified of this incident as the accident actually occurred in Upper Hanover Township. All 37 and 68 units were recalled at 7:56AM. October 2009 10/31/09 5:52PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Woods/Field Fire in the vicinity of the Cantina Italian Restaurant & Sports Bar at 2485 Swamp Pike between Wagner Road & Fagleysville Road in New Hanover Township. Dispatch notes indicated the caller did not know the correct address, however flames were visible. The caller then updated the 911 operator with a correct address of 471 Swamp Pike. Deputy Chief 37 arrived on scene at 5:58PM and found a trash fire, he then ordered that the response be held to Engine 37 only. All units were available at 6:04PM 10/27/09 7:23PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at the CVS Pharmacy at 2000 Swamp Pike between North Charlotte Street & Lutheran Road. Police Department reported nothing showing at 7:25PM, and that CVS was conducting tests on the alarm system. Deputy Chief 37 ordered all units to remain in station at 7:26PM. All units were then recalled at 7:29PM. 10/27/09 10:12AM Stations 37 and 68 Fire Police were dispatched to assist the New Hanover Township Police Department with traffic control following an accident with a commercial vehicle Dump Truck at Big Road & Middle Creek Road in New Hanover Township. All Fire Police were available at 11:07AM. 10/24/09 3:48AM Stations 37 and 68 Fire Police were dispatched to assist the New Hanover Township Police Department with traffic control following a Vehicle Accident at 1980 Hoffmansville Road between Erb Road and Layfield Road in New Hanover Township. One vehicle was completely obstructing the roadway and Fire Police were ordered to shut down Hoffmansville Road between Erb Road & Layfield Road. Redispatched at 3:50AM Stations 37, 68 and 65 Fire Police for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries and to assist EMS with a patient bleeding from The head. At 4:08AM Chief 68 ordered to hold the response to units already on the road. Chief 68 recalled 65 Fire Police at 4:09AM. 10/23/09 6:56PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries at 111 Hill Road between Layfield Road & Deep Creek Road in New Hanover Township. Chief 68 arrived on scene to find 1 vehicle off the roadway into a tree, and the driver was getting out of the vehicle. Chief 68 updated County that this incident was actually between Parestis Road & Green Hill Road in Douglas Township and to notify the 67 Officer In Charge. County stated the dispatch system was still showing this incident was still the jurisdiction of 37 & 68. Chief 68 ordered all units to reduce speed, and then recalled all 37 units. 10/23/09 11:30AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched to an Automatic Fire Alarm at Serenity Drive Group Home at 3138 Serenity Drive between Middle Creek Road & Quiet Court in New Hanover Township. Initial dispatch notes included that this alarm was manually activated by a keypad. New Hanover Township Police Department arrived on scene at 11:33AM, and reported that there was no problem at the site and to have the Fire Department reduce speed to non-emergency response. Deputy Chief 37 confirmed no problems in the facility, and Chief 68 recalled all units at 11:39AM. 10/21/09 6:08PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Rescue of a downed aircraft in the vicinity of 2325 North Charlotte Street between Mock Road & Lomara Drive in New Hanover Township. Initial dispatch notes indicated the aircraft just missed a barn. Caller reported that the hot-air balloon had 6 or 7 passengers. Deputy Chief 37 arrived on location, and reported the correct address as 430 Moyer Road, and determined that Fire Department services were not required and recalled all units at 6:15PM. On a statistical note this incident was the first aircraft related call since the closing of the New Hanover Township airport several years ago. 10/21/09 1:00PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Gas Leak/Odor of Gas at 509 Brook Run off of Canyon Creek Road in New Hanover Township. Dispatch notes included that the caller was not on location, and that workers had ruptured a gas main. 10/13/09 6:42AM Stations 37, 65, and 68 Fire Police were dispatched to assist the New Hanover Township Police Department with traffic control around a disabled box truck type commercial vehicle in the vicinity of the Deep Creek Road intersection of Layfield Road. 10/12/09 2:27PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched to stand-by at the scene of a vehicle accident at 2926 North Charlotte Street between Swamp Pike and Swamp Picnic Road. Deputy 37 ordered all units to reduce and hold at 2:37PM. 10/11/09 7:41PM Stations 37 and 68 Fire Police were dispatched to assist the New Hanover Township Police Department with traffic control after an accident at Hill Road & Lee Road in New Hanover Township. The vehicle involved was a commercial pickup with a an enclosed box filled with just under 200 bushels of apples, lying on its side completely obstructing the roadway. At 8:07PM Engine 68 and Special Service 68 were dispatched at reduced speed to stand-by at the accident and assist the towing company with lighting. All units were available at 9:56PM 10/09/09 2:36PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched to set up a landing site and stand-by for a possible Med-Evac helicopter landing at 506 Centennial Avenue between Canyon Creek Road and Courtside Avenue. Gilbertsville Ambulance was treating a patient, whom was a worker that fell off of a 2-story building, and EMS placed MidAtlantic Med-Evac 3 on stand-by at 2:36PM. Medic 332 authorized the Med-Evac launch at 2:49PM. 10/09/09 12:02PM Stations 37, 65 with Squad 65 and 68 were dispatched for an Vehicle Accident With Injuries at the intersection of Layfield Road & Colflesh Road in New Hanover Township. Dispatch notes indicated that there was an infant in a car seat that needed to be checked out by EMS. All units were made available at 12:31PM. 10/08/09 6:56PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at 2962 North Charlotte Street between Swamp Pike & Swamp Picnic Road in New Hanover Township. Initial reports indicated a hall smoke detector activation. Chief 37 arrived on location at 6:59PM and reported nothing showing, and at 7:01PM all units were recalled. 10/06/09 11:57PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Commercial Building Fire at the Wawa at Swamp Pike & North Charlotte Street in New Hanover Township. Wawa employees told 911 that there was a refridgerated case in the center of the store that was sparking, and smoking, and there were flames but they had disappeared. Chief 37 ordered a reduce and hold for all units at 12:06AM, all units were recalled at 12:12AM. 10/04/09 3:02PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries at 2475 Big Road between Church Road & Rennigner Road in New Hanover Township. During dispatch County ordered 37 personnel to disregard their tones. Gilbertsville Ambulance arrived to treat the lone victim. Captain 68 ordered all units to reduce speed at 3:17PM. 10/04/09 12:10PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Fire at the intersection of Swamp Pike & New Hanover Square Road. Lieutenant 37-1 arrived on location and determined no fire department services were required and recalled all units at 12:13PM. 10/03/09 3:05PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries in the vicinity of the intersection of Layfield Road & Hill Road in New Hanover Township. Initial Notes indicated that 2 vehicles were involved, and partially obstructing the roadway. Upon the arrival of Engine 68 with Captain 68, Captain 68 ordered a reduce and hold on all responding units. At 3:23PM all units were recalled with the exception of Engine 68, and 37 & 68 Fire Police. EMS units responded from Gilbertsville and Green Lane. One victim had complained of neck pains, prior to EMS arrival on scene. September 2009 09/27/09 11:05AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Rescue with confirmed entrapment following an accident in front of Hetrick Gardens at 2600 Swamp Pike between Faust Road & Schaffer Road in New Hanover Township. Chief 37 ordered responding Fire Police to completely shut down Swamp Pike between Schaffer Road & Faust Road to secure the scene for extrication. Station 54 Fire Police were requested by Chief 37 to assist with shutting down Swamp Pike at Houck Road in Limerick Township to relieve traffic congestion at the scene. Station 68 Fire Police were then directed to assume the Houck Road & Swamp Pike intersection pending the arrival of personnel from Station 54. Upon arrival of Chief 37 at the scene, the victim had escaped the vehicle without assistance, at this time all responding units were recalled with the exception of Rescue 37 and 37, 54, and 68 Fire Police. All units were made available by a recall at 11:44AM. 09/26/09 7:35AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries involving a motorcycle close to 2570 Swamp Pike between Faust Road & Schaffer Road in New Hanover Township. Lieutenant 37-1 ordered that the response be held to only the first due truck from Station 37. Both companies were available quickly. 09/25/09 6:17PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at Ken Crest Services at 393 Buchert Road between Windy Hill Road & Donald Drive in New Hanover Township. Alarm company reported a smoke detector activation on the first floor, east side of the building. Additionally alarm company reported a caller from the premises requested an alarm cancellation, using the correct code...but gave no reason for the activation. Assistant Chief 37 ordered a reduce and hold on all responding units at 6:28PM. Assistant Chief 37 determined that the smoke detector was activated by a candle, all units were recalled and made available at 6:29PM. 09/23/09 6:32AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries at the intersection of Swamp Pike & Township Line Road in New Hanover Township. Initial dispatch notes were as follows: 2 vehicles were involved, the accident was obstructing the roadway, and there were injured victims at the scene. Chief 37 arrived at the intersection, to find no accident. All 37 and 68 units were recalled. Apparently the accident was reported in New Hanover Township when it was actually in Limerick Township at a confusingly similarly named intersection. 09/21/09 6:34PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm activation at 2254 Deep Creek Road between Kingswood Vale & Kulp Road in New Hanover Township. Dispatch notes included that the caller was a neighbor of the residence with the fire alarm activation. Caller reported that the alarm was activated for at least 5 minutes and had an external audible alarm warning of a fire and to leave the area immediately, caller further reported not seeing any visible fire or smoke in the area. Assistant Chief 37 and Chief 68 arrived on location and ordered a reduce and hold for all responding units. Ladder 37 and Engine 68 were already en route. All units were made available via recall by Chief 68 at 7:50PM. 09/20/09 6:54PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries at the intersection of Layfield Road & Hill Road in New Hanover Township. Lieutenant 68 arrived on scene at 7:01PM and ordered that the response be held to the first out apparatus from each station at reduced speed. All units were recalled at 7:03PM. 09/19/09 6:21PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Unknown-Type Fire at 2876 Fagleysville Road between Washington Drive & Wagner Road in New Hanover Township. Initial notes indicated a smoke condition causing smoke detector activation. Assistant Chief 37 held all responding units in station with the exception of first due apparatus from station 37 at reduced speed. Both stations were made available at 6:40PM. 09/18/09 9:57AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at 1924 Big Road between Short Road & North Charlotte Street in New Hanover Township. Dispatch notes identified that the alarm was transmitting activation in Zone 1 of the residence. Lieutenant 37 arrived on location at 10:05AM and ordered a reduce and hold on all responding units. At 10:06AM all units were recalled and made available by Lieutenant 37. 09/15/09 7:30PM Stations 37, 68 and 59 with Tanker 59 were dispatched for a dwelling fire at 608 Buchert Road between Jane Lane & Rhoads Road in New Hanover Township. Additional notes indicated that this was a grill on fire on a deck behind the residence. Deputy Chief 37 arrived on location and ordered a reduce and hold on all units except for Ladder 37. All units were recalled at 7:45PM by Deputy Chief 37. 09/13/09 2:11PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Unknown type fire in the area of 2318 Bromley Drive off of Turnbury Road in New Hanover Township. Montgomery County Dispatch Center reported that the call originated from a cell phone that disconnected, the cell phone was equipped with phase 2 technology and a Global Positioning System was used to ascertain the approximate location of the incident. Dispatch also reported that kids were overheard in the background of the call, and it sounded like there was a party near to the caller. Assistant Chief 37 arrived on location and had the response held to Ladder 37 only. All other 37 and 68 units were recalled at 2:20PM. 09/10/09 2:32AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Trash/Dumpster Fire at 2555 Big Road between Church Road & Renninger Road in New Hanover Township. Chief 37 arrived on scene and reported that the homeowner was dousing the fire with water. It was determined that no apparatus was required, Captain 68 ordered all units to be held in station. Chief 37 recalled all 37 units, and had them go available leaving the investigation to Captain 68. 09/08/09 1:30PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched to stand-by at the scene of a vehicle accident at the intersection of Big Road & Middle Creek Road in New Hanover Township. Chief 37 requested the response be held to the first due unit from both stations, and to respond at a reduced rate of speed. 09/08/09 7:29AM Stations 37 and 68 Fire Police were dispatched to assist the New Hanover Township Police Department with the closure of Hill Road between Kulp Road & Eichele Road in New Hanover Township. An empty Dump truck was on its side obstructing the road, there was a tree down near the wreck as well. Fire Police were informed a tow was ordered, but due to the type of vehicle, a large enough wrecker would take awhile. 09/06/09 1:35PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a non-commercial building fire at 2203 Rabbit Run between Mallard Lane and Pheasant Lane in New Hanover Township. Initial reports from the complainant stated the there were popping noises coming from the stove, and flames were visible. Deputy Chief 37 reduced the speed of all incoming units at 1:42PM. All units were recalled at 1:50PM. August 2009 08/28/09 1:04PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Trash/Dumpster Fire at the intersection of Turnbury Road & New Hanover Square Road in New Hanover Township. 08/20/09 7:23PM Stations 37, 65 with Squad 65, 68 were dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm in the Pleasant Run Trailer Park at 570 Layfield Road between Little Road & Deep Creek Road in New Hanover Township. A specific lot number was not given by the alarm company which just installed the new fire alarms in the trailer park the day before. After investigating Rescue 37 and Squad 65 and 65 Fire Police were recalled, Ladder 37 remained on scene until the malfunction was identified. All units were available at 7:55PM. 08/18/09 11:55PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Electrical Fire Outside at the intersection of Fagleysville Road & Washington Drive in New Hanover Township. Initial dispatch notes indicated a pole mounted transformer malfunctioning and sparking. 08/18/09 8:05PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Electrical Fire Outside at 125 Evans Road & Saint Victoria Drive in New Hanover Township. Initial reports indicated a downed tree into wires actively arching and sparking within 30 feet of a residence. 08/18/09 7:46PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a possible building fire following a lightning strike to a building on either Washington Drive or Faust Road adjacent to 2508 Kristen Lane between Washington Drive & Tracy Lane in New Hanover Township. The caller was very concerned as to the intensity of the lightning blast, reporting no visible fire at the time of the call. Lieutenant 37-1 recalled all units at 7:51PM. 08/16/09 1:31PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Building Fire at 2672 Saint Victoria Drive between Santa Maria Drive & Samantha Way in New Hanover Township. Initial reports indicated the this was a kitchen fire including the stove. 08/16/09 2:11AM Stations 37 and 68 Fire Police were dispatched to assist the New Hanover Township Police Department with a road closure around the scene of an accident at 2547 Big Road in New Hanover Township. Fire Police were asked to close Hoffmansville Road between Big Road & Church Road. 08/13/09 2:37PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at 2656 Briana Drive between Anthony Drive & Buchert Road in New Hanover Township. The alarm company reported to the Communications Center that this incident was an accidental pressing of an alarm panel button. Deputy Chief 37 ordered all units to respond at reduced speed pending confirmation at the scene. Deputy Chief 37 recalled all units at 2:45PM. 08/09/09 6:40PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Special Service to assist the New Hanover Township Police Department with the removal of a downed tree obstructing the north-bound lane of Layfield Road between Deep Creek Road & Hill Road in New Hanover Township. Lieutenant 68 ordered the response be held to Special Service 68 & 68 Fire Police at 6:52PM. Station 37 was made available at this time as well. 08/09/09 10:19AM Stations 37 and 68 Fire Police were dispatched to assist the New Hanover Police Department with Traffic Control due to a flooded roadway in the vicinity of Our Place Hotel Restaurant at 2036 Swamp Pike between North Charlotte Street & Lutheran Road in New Hanover Township. Once the hazardous area was shut down the Police Department recalled all Fire Police. 08/09/09 8:40AM Stations 37 and 68 Fire Police were dispatched to assist the New Hanover Township Police Department with Traffic Control at 2419 Sanatoga Road between North Schaffer Road & Cross Road in New Hanover Township. A tree had fallen over taking out utility wires and obstructing the roadway. Police Department noted the one vehicle had become tangled in the wires. Fire Police remained on scene until the Utility Company arrived on scene, and the New Hanover Township Roads Department arrived with barricades to close the road until repairs were completed. 08/07/09 11:11AM Station 68 was dispatched for Engine 68 at a reduced rate of speed for a Special Service at 851 Layfield Road between Deep Creek Road & Hill Road in New Hanover Township. This incident turned out to be a Residential Rescue requiring a minimal amount of time. Communications Center logged that the "Rescue" was completed at 11:20 hours. All units were available at 11:25AM. 08/03/09 6:28AM Station 68 was dispatched to assist Station 87 with a non-commercial Building Fire at 1334 Snyder Road between Henning Road & Cedar Lane in Upper Frederick Township. Caller reported smelling smoke in the vicinity of a 2nd floor bedroom, as well as a smoke detector activation. Chief 87 arrived on scene at 6:36AM and ordered a Reduce & Hold. 08/02/09 11:57PM Stations 37, 68 and 59 with Tanker 59 were dispatched for a non-commercial structure fire at 137 Kurtz Road between Swamp Pike & Schaffer Road in New Hanover Township. Additional Dispatch notes included Smoke was present in the basement. Deputy Chief 37 ordered a Reduce & Hold at 12:09AM. All units were recalled at 12:29AM. 08/02/09 11:13AM Stations 37 and 68, 59 with Engine 59, 67 with Squad 67 and Tanker 67, and Berks County Station 15 with a Ladder were dispatched for a Dwelling Fire at 2321 Angel Drive off of Reifsnyder Road in New Hanover Township. Caller stated that the house had been hit by lightning, there was no smoke present and the house had been evacuated. 08/02/09 10:49AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Dwelling Fire following a lightning strike at 625 Charles Drive between Jennifer Lane and Raccoon Court in New Hanover Township. The caller reported seeing the lightning strike, and smoke coming from the building, with no fire visible at this time. 08/02/09 8:38AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at the CVS Pharmacy at 2000 Swamp Pike between North Charlotte Street and Lutheran Road in New Hanover Township. Deputy Chief 37 recalled all units at 8:40AM. 08/01/09 11:04PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a vehicle fire following an Accident with Injuries at 2654 North Charlotte Street between Grandview Avenue & Buchert Road in New Hanover Township. Dispatch notes pickup into a tree off the roadway, and on fire. The vehicle was fully involved at the time the first officers arrived on location. Firefighting efforts and vehicle recovery process took well over an hour on scene. July 2009 07/29/09 10:34PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries at Deep Creek Road & Henning Road (Fisher Road side). Reports indicated that one vehicle had flipped over into the trees...unknown if vehicle is occupied at this time...Police Department is investigating. EMS was dispatched as a precaution. Police Department reported vehicle is unoccupied, EMS is now on scene requesting apparatus with light towers, and Thermal Imaging Camera respond first to aid in the search for potential victims. Lieutenant 68 ordered the response be held to Engine 68 and Rescue 37 at 10:49PM. Upon completing a comprehensive search of the area no victims were found. Station 37 units were released from the scene at 11:06PM. Engine 68 remained on scene awaiting the vehicles removal by the towing company. 07/29/09 1:45PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a non-commercial Building Fire at 440 Windy Hill Road between Owl Court & Hidden Lane. Initial report indicated a possible recent lightning strike. Lieutenant 37 ordered all units to reduce speed at 1:50PM. Deputy 37 recalled all units at 2:09PM. 07/23/09 3:37PM Stations 37and 68 Fire Police were dispatched to assist New Hanover Township Police Department with Traffic Control on the 2700-block of North Charlotte Street between Buchert Road & Kleman Road in New Hanover Township. Captain 37-1 ordered all units to Reduce Speed at 7:55AM. 07/19/09 11:23PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Electrical Fire Outside of 618 Jennifer Lane between Charles drive & Heather Lane in New Hanover Township. Initial reports stated that a wire fell on some trees and was arching and sparking in front of the reported residence. 07/13/09 9:26AM Station 68 was dispatched for Engine 68 to Establish a Landing Zone and Stand-By for a Helicopter Landing at Camp Laughing Waters at 2698 Hildebeidel Road between New Hanover Square Road & Colonial Road in New Hanover Township. The assignment was cancelled by EMS within 5 minutes of dispatch. 07/11/09 8:21AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Unknown Type Fire in the vicinity of 2760 North Charlotte Street between Kleman Road & Swamp Pike in New Hanover Township. Initial reports stated that there was smoke to the rear of the property near Leidy Road. 07/09/09 9:50AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Carbon-Monoxide Detector activation at 120 Holbrook Lane between New Hanover Square Road & Clarkdale Lane in New Hanover Township. Chief 37 arrived on location and ordered that this response be held to Ladder 37 and Engine 68. 7/06/09 1:33AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched to Stand-By for a helicopter landing for EMS and various Police Departments working a Domestic Dispute, with shots fired at 2993 North Charlotte Street between Swamp Pike & Swamp Picnic Road in New Hanover Township. Deputy 37 chose the field behind Freed's Market on Swamp Pike for the Landing Zone, and was notified that Mid-Atlantic MedEvac 3 was enroute with a 6 minute Estimated Time of Arrival. The landing was delayed slightly due to an unknown radio malfunction that was corrected swiftly by the pilots. Once on the ground a single patient was loaded, and then Mid-Atlantic MedEvac 3 took off and and transported the patient to Lehigh Valley Hospital. 07/05/09 8:35PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Trash/Dumpster fire at 2705 North Charlotte Street between Buchert Road & Kleman Road in New Hanover Township. Initial reports indicated possible burning tires. Police department reported that they were in the area and saw a large column of smoke, however the source was still unknown. Captain 37-1 arrived on scene and ordered all units to reduce their speed, and then recalled all units two minutes later. 07/03/09 9:45AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at 407 Layfield Road between Colflesh Road & Little Road in New Hanover Township. Lieutenant 37-1 arrived on scene to find burnt food on the stove and recalled all units. 07/01/09 5:05PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Middle Creek Road & Big Road in New Hanover Township. Initial reports stated the the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, and was moving around. June 2009 06/30/09 3:01PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Electrical Fire Outside at the intersection of Big Road & Church Road in New Hanover Township. Initial reports stated that the wires were arching. A second caller reported a tree down at this incident. The address was also updated to 2556 Big Road. The response was held to Rescue 37 at reduced speed, having all other units recalled. 06/27/09 9:19PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Woods/Field fire in the vicinity of 2667 Big Road between Township Line Road & Ivy Lane in New Hanover Township. Initial report stated that the caller sees flames in the field. Chief 37 arrived on scene and corrected the address to 2739 Big Road, in Upper Frederick Township. Chief 37 asked county to notify Chief 87 of a large controlled burn at that address and recalled all 37 & 68 units 06/27/09 1:50PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Woods/Field fire in the 2400 block of Big Road between Church Road & Renninger Road in New Hanover Township. Assistant 68 ordered the response be held to Engine 68 at reduced speed. 06/26/09 1:42PM Stations 37, 68 and 42 with Tanker 42 were dispatched for a Structure Fire at 2020 Hill Road between Lee Road & Layfield Road in New Hanover Township. Initial report from the caller was that he sees black smoke in the area, following an unknown explosion. The address was updated to 2025 Hill Road at 1:48PM. Chief 37 arrived on scene at 1:50PM and ordered all units recalled with the exception of Engine 68 to remain responding to the scene at reduced speed. 06/23/09 3:44PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Accident with Injuries at 2189 Hoffmansville Road between Layfield Road & Church Road in New Hanover Township. This call was upgraded to a Vehicle Rescue with an overturned van requiring the extrication of 5 patients. Station 87 was dispatched with Engine 87 to assist with the rescue effort. Assistant 68 arrived and reported 4 trapped victims, 1 victim out all are injured, requesting a MedEvac be placed on Stand-By. Command 68 established with Assistant 68 in command. Fire Police were requested to completely shut down the roadway from Church Road to Layfield Road. Engine 87 was ordered to setup a Landing Zone at the Upper Frederick New Hanover Elementary School soccer field and to Stand-By.

Alarm indicated trouble in the 1st Floor Reception and Washing & Style Room. Ladder 37 with Deputy 37 arrived on location and reported nothing showing from the exterior and held the response to Ladder 37 only, recalling all remaining units. 06/21/09 1:24PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a vehicle fire in the parking lot of the Car Corner dealership at 2092 Big Road between North Charlotte Street & Short Road in New Hanover Township. Initial dispatch information indicated that a sliver Dodge Stratus had smoke coming from the engine compartment, and it was unclear if the vehicle was overheating, or on fire. Assistant Chief 37 arrived on location and ordered that the response be limited to the 1st due trucks from both companies at a reduced rate of speed, which were Ladder 37 and Engine 68. All units were recalled soon after arriving on location. 06/21/09 12:09AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Carbon-Monoxide Detector Activation at -1 2370 Hill Road between Ward Road & Swinging Bridge Road in New Hanover Township. FP-68 arrived on location first and confirmed all occupants had been evacuated. Lieutenant 68 arrived next and ordered all units to stage on Hill Road with the exception of Engine 68 06/20/09 11:32PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at 2213 Holly Drive off of Rosenberry Road in New Hanover Township. Assistant Chief 37 arrived on scene at 11:37PM and reported nothing showing. All responding units were then ordered to respond in at a reduced rate of speed. All fire department personnel were recalled as of 12:03AM. 06/20/09 11:22AM Stations 37 and 68 Fire Police were dispatched to assist the new Hanover Township Police Department with traffic control at a malfunctioning traffic light at the intersection of North Charlotte Street & Swamp Pike. Apparently the signal control was disrupted by the inclement weather again. 06/19/09 10:37AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at 1924 Big Road between North Charlotte Street & Short Road in New Hanover Township. Police Department arrived in the area and reported smoke showing, however a simple miscommunication, and a page was sent out from the Communication Center stating that the Police Department reported nothing showing at 10:42AM. Lieutenant 37-1 arrived on scene at 10:45AM and reported a working building fire, requested a second alarm for an additional two Engines and two Tankers to be assigned to this incident. This added Stations 87 with Engine and Tanker, 67 with Squad and Tanker. Fire Police were instructed to shut down Big Road between Middle Creek Road and North Charlotte Street. FP-68-1 requested 65 Fire Police with Traffic 65 respond to assist, County Communication Center reported back that they had a negative response check from 65. 59 Fire Police with Traffic 59 were then dispatched in place of 65 to handle the increasing traffic at the Big Road & North Charlotte Street intersection. Additional Fire Police from 67 did respond out to assist with traffic control including Utility 67. All units were released around 2:00PM following the fire investigation. 06/15/09 2:17PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Automatic Fire Alarm at Bella Vista Golf Course 2901 Fagleysville Road between Wagner Road & Saint Victoria Drive in New Hanover Township. Chief 37 arrived on scene at 2:24PM and after investigating ordered a Reduce and Hold on all remaining responding units. 06/13/09 8:33AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Fire following a 2 car accident at Layfield Road & Big Road in New Hanover Township. One vehicle was towed away, and at least one patient was transported to Pottstown Memorial from the scene. 06/13/09 3:33AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Carbon-Monoxide (CO) Detector activation at 120 Holbrook Lane between New Hanover Square Road & Clarkdale Lane in New Hanover Township. Assistant 37 arrived on location to discover that the alarm was accidentally set off from someone cooking in the residence. All units were recalled. 06/05/09 4:12PM Stations 37 & 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident involving a house at 2623 Big Road between Renninger Road & Township Line Road. No reported injuries, and it is unknown if anyone is home at the involved residence. May 2009 05/31/09 8:22PM Stations 87, 37 with Engine 37, 52 with Ladder 52, 68 with Engine 68 and Tanker 68 were dispatched for a Structure Fire at 2754 Yost Road between Snyder Road & Sweifford Road in Upper Fredrick Township. Upon arrival of Chief 87, the report was as follows: a house with garage and contents including vehicles were involved, the second alarm assignment was requested. Second Alarm at 8:29PM added the following apparatus 37 with Ladder 37, 52 with Tanker 52, 66 with Tanker 66, 68 with Special Service 68 for Cascade Assist. Chief 87 also requested an additional two Tankers adding 42 with Tanker 42, and 67 with Tanker 67 into the mix. A Tanker fill site was established at the Upper Frederick Mennonite Home off of Big Road. All units were in service until after midnight. Chief 68 requested that Station 65 be dispatched to relocate Engine 65 and Ladder 65 to Station 68 to stand-by and respond to all incidents within New Hanover Township in our absence. 05/26/09 12:00PM Stations 37 & 68 Fire Police were dispatched to assist the New Hanover Police Department in shutting down Sanatoga Road between Jasper Farmer Road & Fagleysville Road. The police were handling a special assignment at 2497 Sanatoga Road, and required the road closed for security reasons. 05/25/09 10:06AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries at 2473 Big Road between Church Road & Renninger Road in New Hanover Township. Initial reports indicated a vehicle flipped over into the ditch. 05/24/09 8:56PM Stations 37 (2nd call), 65 and 68 Fire Police were dispatched to assist the New Hanover Police Department in shutting down Ludwig Road around 1871 Ludwig Road, between the intersections of Middle Creek Road & Ludwig Road and Big Road & Ludwig Road in New Hanover Township. There was a problem with unknown type wires hanging low to the roadway and thus putting extensive tension on a utility pole creating a hazard for all drivers. 65 Fire Police were recalled by FP-68-1 shortly after dispatch due to the fact that 37 Fire Police were just clearing their 1st call and were responding to this incident. Med-Ed crews ordered the immediate area be coned and flared, and to allow traffic through the scene after determining that the scene was safe. 05/23/09 1:16PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Multiple Vehicle Accident with Injuries involving 2 motorcycles at Layfield Road & Big Road in New Hanover Township. Initial report showed that both motorcycles were off to the side of the road. All responding units were ordered to stage in the Hickory Park parking lot. Assistant Chief 37 arrived on location and determined that the fire/rescue services were not needed and deferred the call to EMS and Police. Lieutenant 37-1 found the correct address of the incident as 2876 Fagleysville Road, and ordered all responding units not underway to remain in their stations. 05/10/09 11:20AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched to assist EMS (328 Green Lane Ambulance) with lifting at 781 Hildebrandt Road between Finn Road & Deep Creek Road in New Hanover Township. Caller stated that fireworks were recently used in the vicinity of this residence. Upon arrival Chief 68 investigated the building, and it appeared that the caller may have mistaken steam for smoke due to the current weather and the poor lighting conditions at the time. 05/06/09 5:40PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an odor of gas inside 2925 Raspberry Lane off of Faust Road in New Hanover Township. Initial report indicated that this could be a possible suicide attempt. Additional information is unavailable. April 2009 4/30/09 10:19AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched to assist EMS with the landing of a MidAtlantic MedEvac helicopter. The address was corrected by Chief 67 to 2857 Fagleysville Road. Chief 67 arrived to find a camp fire behind the home. All responding units were recalled. 4/18/09 8:19PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Woods/Field Fire at 2575 Faust Road between Tory Lane & Wagner Road in New Hanover Township. Upon investigation after arrival Chief 37 found the gasoline odor to be coming from a snow-blower inside the home. Deputy Chief 37 arrived on location and determined that the alarm malfunctioned and Recalled all units. 4/08/09 12:23PM Station 68 was dispatched for Field 68 to Fellowship Farm at 2488 Sanatoga Road in New Hanover Township for a Fire Investigation as well as wet down some remaining Hot Spots from the previous nights Commercial Structure Fire. 4/07/09 11:29PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Unknown Type Fire which was visible from the intersection of Swamp Pike & Faust Road. The caller reported seeing a large fire but was unaware of its exact location. The caller was then able to identify the correct fire type and location as Commercial Structure Fire at Fellowship Farm at 2488 Sanatoga Road, with the closest cross streets being Jasper Farmer Road & Fagleysville Road in New Hanover Township. Station 59 was dispatched to assist by Chief 37. Several units remained on scene until around 3:00AM. 4/06/09 8:13PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for Fire Police to handle traffic control around an overturned pickup truck off of the westbound side of Big Road between Church Road & New Hanover Square Road in New Hanover Township. Stations 37 and 68 re-dispatched for Rescue 37 and Engine 68 to respond to the scene and stand-by until the wrecker cleared the overturned pickup truck. 4/06/09 8:10PM Station 68 was dispatched for Tanker 68 to assist Station 65 with a Structure Fire at 1500 School House Road between West 4th Street & Pottstown Avenue in Upper Hanover Township. Initial reports from complainant indicated smoke coming from the basement, with an electrical odor present. Once on scene Chief 65 determined that a malfunctioning hot water heater was the culprit. The Tankers were recalled. 4/05/09 4:34PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched to 2766 Gail Drive between Kleman Road and New Hanover Community Park in New Hanover Township for a Rescue. Initial reports stated that a child was stuck in a briar bush. Shortly after arriving on scene Deputy 37 determined that Fire Company and EMS were no longer needed, and recalled all responding units. 4/04/09 3:26PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a multiple Vehicle Accident with Injuries involving 3 or 4 vehicles at Swamp Pike & Sanatoga Road. Two ambulances responded to the scene, at least one left with a patient. 4/03/09 5:24PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a multiple Vehicle Accident with Injuries in the immediate vicinity of the National Penn Bank at 2900 North Charlotte Street in New Hanover Township. At 5:27PM Station 68 was re-dispatched for Fire Police specifically to handle traffic control at 663 & Swamp Pike. Upon arrival Assistant (Chief) 37 found at least one person was trapped inside their vehicle, and notified Montgomery County to upgrade this incident to a Vehicle Rescue and that he would be establishing 37-Command. Responding units to the scene included Rescue & Ladder 37, Special Service 68. EMS determined at least one person required an airlift, Mid-Atlantic MedEvac 3 responded within 8 minutes to the New Hanover Township Building, where Engine 68 had set up a Landing Zone. March 2009 3/29/09 6:58PM Stations 37, 68 and 87 with Tanker 87 were dispatched to 564 Swamp Picnic Road between Lutheran Road & Reifsnyder Road in New Hanover Township for a non-commercial building fire with an electrical burning odor reported following a power surge, METED had already been notified. Once on scene 3 additional residences reported similar circumstances and requested that the on scene units investigate since we were already there. Chief 37 reported to Montgomery County Dispatch of the additional complaints and requested that METED prioritize this incident on their service list. 3/29/09 3:25PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a transformer fire at 663 & Swamp Pike. Traffic lights were disabled at 663 & Swamp Pike as well as 663 & Buchert Road. A portable generator was set up to restore power to 663 & Swamp Pike. Temporary stop signs were set up at Buchert Road & 663. The affected lights were released to METED. All responding units were out about 20 minutes. 3/26/09 5:20PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched to a Vehicle Accident with Injuries at Big Road (Route 73) & New Hanover Square Road. All persons involved in the incident opted to not receive EMS treatment, thus eliminating the need for fire department services and all units were recalled by Assistant Chief 37. 3/23/09 2:36PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched to 3247 New Hanover Square Road in New Hanover Township for a Woods/Field Fire. 3/18/09 2:27PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Woods/Field Fire at the Fairbrook development on Leidy Road. Initial reports from Dispatch Center, the fire was spreading to within 15 to 20 feet of the residences. 3/15/09 11:34PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched to 534 Bow Lane between Woodland Way & Gail Drive in New Hanover Township for a Residential Automatic Fire Alarm. Deputy 37 arrived on scene and upon investigation found the alarm to have accidentally tripped, and had all responding units recalled. 3/14/09 10:56PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a dwelling fire at 2526 Tracy Lane between Washington Drive & Kristen Lane in New Hanover Township. Upon arrival Chief 37 determined that the fire was actually a malfunctioning pellet-type stove, and ordered a Reduce & Hold (all responding units already enroute reduce to non-emergency speed; all units and personnel left in station remain at station until the incident is over) on all remaining 37 & 68 units. 3/13/09 4:25PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Vehicle Accident with Injuries at 2475 Big Road between Church Road & Renninger Road in New Hanover Township. Initial reports indicated a vehicle ran off the road into the field, elderly patients involved. 3/06/09 5:17PM Stations 37 and 68 Fire Police were dispatched to assist New Hanover Township Police Department with traffic control around a disabled Garbage Truck on Swamp Pike between New Hanover Square Road & Rosenberry Road in New Hanover Township. Fire Police were on scene about 90 minutes, before Berks-Mont Towing could remove the large truck from the roadway. 3/02/09 12:14AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a Commercial Structure Fire at the Wawa at 1906 Swamp Pike in New Hanover Township. The caller complained of an odor of smoke coming from the buildings office. Due to the remote location of this incident, a Tanker Shuttle had to be established utilizing 8 to 10 Tankers to bring in the necessary water to combat the raging inferno. Several roads had to be closed to the public to enable the Fire Companies to do their job. The following companies were involved at the scene: Pennsburg, East Greenville, Sassamansville, Red Hill, Hereford, Bally, Barto, New Berlinville, Boyertown, North Penn Goodwill. There were several other companies that were involved by relocating their trucks to some of the empty stations as Stand-By companies. February 2009 2/25/09 11:37AM Station 68 was dispatched for Tanker 68 to assist 42 with a vehicle fire in a junkyard at 301 School Alley in Green Lane Borough. Several Tankers were dispatched to assist with water supply, a fill site was established behind Rockwell's Restaurant on Route 29 in Green Lane. An Engine was assigned to draft water from the Perkiomen Creek, and a Tanker Shuttle Operation was established. The tanker shuttle provided enough water to quickly douse the blaze. 2/25/09 8:03AM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched to 2561 Finn Road in New Hanover Township for a Hazardous Materials Incident which involved the dumping of several small drums of motor oil on the side of the roadway. One of these drums was leaking. Responding units included Rescue 37, Engine 68, and Special Service 68. Although Rescue 37 was recalled, Engine 68 and Special Service 68 remained on scene for approximately 45 minutes assisting the New Hanover Township Roads Department with the clean up. 2/24/09 5:59PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for an Vehicle Accident with Motorcycle involvement at 2313 North Charlotte Street in New Hanover Township. Caller reported that the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet. Responding Units included Engine 37, Rescue 37, Engine 68. 2/22/09 5:10PM Stations 37 and 68 were dispatched for a dwelling fire at 419 Moyer Road in New Hanover Township. Chief 37 arrived on scene and reported a working fire, and additional units were requested from stations 59 and 67. 2/22/09 2:44PM Stations 37 and 68, with 65 Fire Police were dispatched for an Accident with Injuries at Deep Creek Road and Layfield Road. The call was Upgraded to a Vehicle Rescue at 2:46PM, 2 Mid-Atlantic MedEvacs were placed on stand-by. Stations 65, and 87 were dispatched with an Engine each to setup 2 Landing Zones, for the incoming MedEvacs Mid-Atlantic 3 & Mid-Atlantic 6. Two patients were extricated and flown from the scene, while another was taken by Ambulance to awaiting hospitals. Layfield Road remained closed until the Police Department could mark the scene in the event that an accident reconstruction would be required at a later time. 2/20/09 5:38AM Stations 37, 65, and 68 Fire Police were dispatched to assist the New Hanover Township Police Department with traffic control at the scene of a Multiple Vehicle Accident at 769 Layfield Road in New Hanover Township. The roadway was partially shut down for about 1 hour until all of the vehicles were cleared away by towing companies. 2/13/09 4:08PM Stations 67 and 68 were dispatched to a non-commercial structure fire at 151 Weller Road in Douglas Township, caller reported a possible chimney fire, with smoke coming from the chimney. Responding units included Engine 67, Squad 67, Tanker 67, Engine 68, Tanker 68. 02/12/09 10:41AM Stations 68 and 37 were dispatched to a fire investigation, following a tree falling into a house and severely damaging the chimney at 942 Eichele Road in New Hanover Township. The township Codes Enforcement officer was requested on scene, to help evaluate the damage. 02/05/09 10:37AM Stations 68 and 37 were dispatched for a non-commercial structure fire at 350 Erb Road in New Hanover Township. The caller reported the fire was in the chimney, and there was a heavy smoke condition inside the residence. 02/04/09 5:28PM Engine 68 and Engine 37 were dispatched to 2773 Leidy Road for a vehicle fire. All units were recalled by Chief 37 once he arrived on scene. 02/04/09 8:21AM Engine 68 and Engine 37 were dispatched to investigate an odor of gas outside in the new development on Leidy Road in New Hanover Township. January 2009 01/31/09 6:13PM Station 68 Fire Police were dispatched with 37 Fire Police to assist the New Hanover Police Department with traffic control at 461 Kleman Road on the scene of a 2 car Motor Vehicle Accident. Station 37 was then dispatched for their Engine & Rescue to clean up fluids on the roadway from the accident. EMS transported at least one victim. 01/28/09 12:22AM Special Service 68 was dispatched for Cascade Assist to Station 79 at a structure fire at 70 Maugers Mill Road. Chief 79 recalled Special Service prior to our response. 01/19/2009 12:06PM Station 68 was dispatched with Engine 68, and Tanker 68 to assist 87 with an automatic fire alarm at Montgomery County SPCA at 1059 Sweifford Road. Assistant Chief 87 recalled all units with the exception of Engine 87. 01/15/09 3:52PM Station 68 was dispatched to a Fire Alarm at 2635 Anthony Drive with Station 37. All 68 units were recalled en route. 01/02/09 12:42PM Station 68 was dispatched to a Motor Vehicle Accident at 2503 Swamp Pike, All units were recalled prior to response. 01/01/09 5:36AM Station 68 was dispatched to an Automatic Fire Alarm at New Hanover Upper Frederick Elementary School at 2547 Big Road. Chief 68 determined that it was an alarm issue.
